Profhilo offers one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid on the market — but unlike a dermal filler, it is not designed to add structural volume. Instead it spreads laterally through tissue from each of 10 precisely placed injection points (the BAP technique — five per side of the face) and biologically stimulates the skin's own production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. Consultation & preparation
Avoid ibuprofen, aspirin, vitamin E, fish oil, and alcohol for 24 to 48 hours before treatment to minimise bruising. Come makeup-free. Stay well hydrated in the 24 hours preceding treatment — Profhilo disperses through tissue and hydration supports that mechanism.
During treatment
Aftercare
The 10 facial injection bumps (5 per side at the BAP points) settle within 24 to 48 hours. Avoid pressure, massage, and makeup at the injection sites for 12 hours. Skip saunas, steam rooms, intense exercise, and alcohol for 24 hours. Visible quality improvements develop over 4 to 8 weeks after the second session; results are assessed at the 8-week review.

How long does Profhilo last?
Results from the starter course (2 sessions 4 weeks apart) peak around 8 to 10 weeks after the second session and last approximately 6 months. Most patients repeat the course twice yearly — once in spring and once in autumn is a common rhythm — to maintain the collagen and elastin stimulation. With consistent maintenance, results tend to compound and some patients stretch the interval to 8 months.
Is Profhilo suitable for all skin types?
Yes. Profhilo has published safety and efficacy data across all Fitzpatrick phototypes (I through VI) and does not carry the post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation risk that some laser treatments carry for darker skin. The only absolute contraindications are pregnancy, breastfeeding, known HA hypersensitivity, and active autoimmune disease flares affecting the skin.
What is the difference between Profhilo and a dermal filler?
Dermal fillers are structural — they add volume at a specific site (lips, cheeks, jawline) and hold that shape for 12 to 18 months. Profhilo is biological — it spreads through tissue and stimulates your own collagen, elastin, and HA production, improving skin quality for approximately 6 months. Fillers change shape; Profhilo changes skin quality. Most patients over 35 benefit from both.
Can I have Profhilo on my body?
Yes. Profhilo is commonly used on the neck, chest (décolletage), hands, and abdomen — anywhere skin quality has declined and added volume is not the goal. The protocol is the same: two sessions four weeks apart, then maintenance. Hand and chest rejuvenation are particularly popular adjuncts for patients investing in facial aesthetic treatment, because the chest and hands often age faster than the face.

Skin rejuvenation treatments (microneedling, peels, laser) should be spaced 2 weeks either side. Profhilo plus anti-wrinkle plus a skin rejuvenation course is a common 6-month protocol.
